Garden Herbs

This is the card that I have made for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge - Recycling.  I recycle as much as I can around the house and garden but unfortunately I am not so good with my card making so this was a good challenge for me, it really made me think about how much I could recycle instead of buying more and more stash.  I'm quite pleased with the way this card has turned out.

The image came from Joanna Sheen's Jane Shasky CD and the papers are Wild Asparagus from My Mind's Eye, these have been sitting in my paper pile for quite some time now.  Everything else except the card blank has been recycled.

The Kraft card stock was the cardboard envelope that my last purchase of Kraft card stock was packaged in, the string was attaching labels to my son's jeans, the buttons were from one of my youngest son's old shirts and the little sticks with the sentiment on were once used to stir coffee, I thought they looked quite like the little labels used in plant pots.

The die cut border and corner are the new Spellbinders Lattice Accents designed by Sue Wilson, I know I said I wasn't going to buy any more until I had used all the ones I already have but I just couldn't resist these.

I have decorated the inside of my card to complement the front using a five inch insert from the Jane Shasky CD mounted on the recycled card stock and then layered onto some more of the papers and card stock.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The CD Sunday Challenge - Recycling (card stock, string, buttons, sentiment)
Polka Doodles Week 8 - Summer Fever
The Crafty Pad Challenge 159 - Recycle It! (card stock, string, buttons, sentiment)
Hiding in My Craft Room Challenge 35 - Bring on some Spring!
Sketch n Stash Challenge 82 - Jill's Sketch (new dies, neglected - papers)

I would like to say a quick hello to my new followers, thank you so much for joining me.  Have a great day I hope to see you again soon.

Walkies

It's Whoopsi Daisy Challenge time again and this week we would like to see cards with Spots and Dots on them.  I've used the Daisy and Friends CD again, this CD is great, all of the girls and boys are so different - each one has their own character.

I used one of the Naughty Niecey coloured images and kept to the pink and black colour scheme throughout.  I have followed the sketch over at Seems a little Sketchy, the circle is die cut as is the border that you can hardly see now because I've covered it up with ribbon and my flower.  The centre of the flower has been made using my new Epiphany Shape Studio, it's the first time I have used it and I think it might take a bit of getting used to.  Full details of everything I have used are in the card recipe below.

This is the inside of my card:

Card Recipe:

Image:  Joanna Sheen - Daisy and Friends
Papers:  Shery K Designs - Pink and Grey Paper Pack (I think this was a free download)
Tools:  Spellbinders - Floral Doily Motifs and Accents,
Crafter's Companion Epiphany Shape Studio, Marianne Creatables leaf die
Embellishments:  flower, ribbon and gems from stash

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Seems A Little Sketchy - Sketch 7
Robyn's Fetish Challenge 96 - People
Lexis Creations Challenge 59 - Monochromatic
Delicious Doodles Challenge 13 - PINK to make the boys wink!
Simon Says Stamp Challenge -3 Different Papers
Paper Sundaes Challenge 109 - Circles
Just Some Lines Challenge - Girly Girl
Crafty Catz Challenge 121 - I SPY with my little eye - SOMETHING BEGINNING WITH B (Black, Boots)

Make sure you pop over and have a look at the Whoopsi Daisy Challenge Blog and join in with the fun.  If you use a Whoopsi Daisy image, either from the new Daisy and Friends CD or from the Whoopsi Daisy Digi Shop (there is always a free one available), you could win two sheets of gorgeous Whoopsi Daisy images.

Thank you for stopping by today, please come back soon.

Cuddles and Hugs

I have made this card for this weeks Tuesday Morning Sketches, Kathy has provided us with a fab sketch this week and this is my card:

I have used two of my favourite cd's, the image is from Joanna Sheen's 'Daisy and Friends', this cd is full of gorgeous images drawn by Lynn Carter and the papers are from the Willow Designs 'Polly Pickleberry' cd.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I printed the sheet out twice so that I had four images the same size, I then cut out three of the images to make layers of decoupage - I just can't help myself!  I followed the sketch quite closely, I only moved the sentiment.

This is the inside of my card, I have decorated it to complement the front:

Card Recipe:

Image:  Joanna Sheen - Daisy and Friends
Papers:  Willow Designs - Polly Pickleberry
Card Stock:  Crafter's Companion - Core'dinations
Embellishments:  flowers, heart buttons and ribbon from stash
Sentiment:  CREAlies label die, Handy Hippo peel-off

Party Time

This is the second card I have made for my son's best friends birthday.  He is the lead guitar player in their band 'Talking to Amy' so the card just had to have a guitar on it.

This one is a little more subdued than the last one I made.  I followed the sketch at Sketch Saturday:

I rotated the sketch because it suited the image better that way.  I used distress inks to distress the edges of the image a little so that it matched the music papers and sprayed it with Spray and Shine to give it some gloss.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

This is the inside of my card, decorated to complement the front:

Card Recipe:

Image:  Delicious Doodles - Electric Guitar
Papers:  Polka Doodles - Pretty Tuff CD, Hot off the Press - Roses in Harmony
Card Stock:  Dies to Die For - Kraft
Tools:  Crafter's Companion - Spray and Shine
Embellishments:  music brad from stash
Sentiment:  LOTV

Anything Goes at Willow Sketchie

We have a great challenge for you at Willow Sketchie this week, it's ANYTHING GOES, so no sketches and no recipes, just get your creative juices flowing and get crafting.

I decided to make a round card for a change:

I think this has to be my favourite image on the Polly Pickleberry CD, perhaps because her dress is my favourite colour, so I just had to make another purple card.  Both papers are from the CD and I have layered them onto some purple card stock from my stash, I punched the flowers and die cut the sentiment banner from the same card stock.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I have decorated the inside of my card to complement the front:

Card Recipe:

Image:  Willow Designs - Polly Pickleberry CD
Papers:  Willow Designs - Polly Pickleberry CD
Tools:  Punch Bunch - flower punches, Spellbinders - Ribbon Banners

Sentiment:  Wild Rose Studio Stamp

Yellow and Green

Did you know that it is St David's Day on 1st March and that traditionally a daffodil is worn to celebrate St David, well at The Crafty Purple Frog Challenge we have decided to ask you to make cards using Yellow and Green, the colours of the daffodil.

I chose to use The Crafty Purple Frog image Green Sea Turtle for my card.  The papers are also from The Crafty Purple Frog, they are from the Spring Floral collection and will be available in the shop shortly.  These papers complement The Crafty Purple Frog images beautifully but they are so stunning I can see myself using them for lots of different projects

The base card stock is some gold coloured card that I have had in my stash for some time now.  I layered the image onto a scalloped oval and embellished my card with some punched flowers and daffodils that I found in my local craft shop.  Full details of everything that I have used are listed below:

This is the inside of my card, you can also see the decoupaged layers:

Card Recipe

Image:  The Crafty Purple Frog - Green Sea Turtle
Papers:  The Crafty Purple Frog - Spring Floral Collection
Tools:  Spellbinders - Scalloped Ovals, Punch Bunch - flower punches and leaf punch,
X-Cut corner punch
Embellishments:  ribbon, daffodils and brads from stash

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The Poodles Parlour - Mother's Day/Card for a Female

Time to Party

It's Crafting for all Seasons Challenge time again and this time we would like to see your 'SHAPED CARDS' so no squares or rectangles.

We have three sponsors again this week:

I chose to use the image 'Max' from The Stamping Boutique and I made this round card:

I found a picture of a vinyl record on google, printed it, cut it out and then sprayed it with some Crafter's Companion Spray and Shine.  I coloured Max with my Spectrum Noir Pens and cut him out with a Spellbinders Large Pinking Circle die.  I inked lightly, with the die still in place, with some black soot distress ink and mounted the image directly onto the record shape.  The sentiment stamp is from LOTV and is stamped onto a smaller pinking circle that has received the same treatment as the image.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Creative Card Crew - Masculine
C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 142 - No Designer Papers
Card Crafter's Circle Challenge 10 - To die for

Guitar Hero

This is a card that I have made for my eldest son to give a friend.  The friend is the lead guitar player in the band that my son sings and plays guitar in called 'Talking to Amy', so his card had to have a guitar on it.

I have made two cards to give Matt a choice, this one is quite simple, all I have used is one sheet of Best Creation Inc 'Rock Star' 6x6 glitter paper for the front and a co-ordinating sheet for the inside.  The base card is some onyx Stardream card from Joanna Sheen and I also die cut the star with my X-Cut die from the same card stock.

I stamped the numbers with my Penny Black number set 'who's counting' onto some co-ordinating paper and coloured them with Pro-Markers.  After cutting them out I glossed them with 3D Crystal Laquer.

The larger star on the inside of the card was also cut from the Stardream card stock with my X-Cut die, the smaller star was cut with a smaller die on some co-ordinating paper.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Fab 'n' Funky Challenge 108 - Try Something New (I don't normally do simple cards)
Lollipop Crafts Challenge 68 - Anything Goes
Crafting When We Can Challenge 12 - Big Birthdays (I hope 16 qualifies)

Good Luck!

Boys Only

It's time for this weeks Whoopsi Daisy Challenge and I've been playing with my Daisy and Friends CD again.  The theme this week is 3D Projects and this time I decided to make a Door Hanger for the boys.

The images are from the boys section on the CD, I printed both sheets a couple of times and then used the largest images to create four layers of decoupage, they are layered onto dark blue card stock and I shaped the corners with a Woodware corner punch.

The backing paper is also from the Daisy and Friends CD.  The letters were printed from Polka Doodles Double Sprinkles of Kraft, I changed the colour, cut them out and backed them on the same dark blue card stock that the plaque is made from.  I cut the stars from the dark blue card stock and some light blue card stock with my X-Cut star die.

I made a couple of holes in the top with my Japanese Screw Punch and added some string to hang the plaque on the door with.

I would like to enter this project into the following challenges:

Glitter Geeks Challenge Week 7 - Girls and Boys
Whimsy Inspirations Challenge 26 - Anything but a square card
Inky Impressions Challenge 46 - Use Punches or Dies
The Pixie Cottage Challenge 108 - Anything but a card

Winnie in Pink

It's time for another challenge over at Willow Sketchie and this week Anne Marie has provided the gorgeous sketch.  I decided to use one of the fab new images Sharon has over at the Willow Designs Shop called 'Be My Valentine Winnie' and this is my card:

This is Anne-Marie's great Sketch, I decided to rotate the sketch for my card:

I coloured the image with ProMarkers and inked around the edge with distress ink.  The papers are from NitWit Collections and the base card stock is Kraft, I also cut the little fence, corner and border from the same card stock.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I got the idea for the little fence from a card on someones blog but for the life of me I can't remember whose it was and have been unable to find it again.

This is the inside of my card, I have decorated it to complement the front:

Card Recipe:

Image:  Willow Designs - Be My Valentine Winnie
Papers:  NitWit Collections - Affection
Tools:  Spellbinders - Classic Squares,  Marianne Creatables - LR0205, FrisKars Border Punch
Embellishments:  ribbon, button, flowers, ivy and gems from stash

If at first....

If at first you don't succeed, try again.  I decided that I would enter the Ready-Teddy-Go Challenge this month, the challenge is stitching and I thought to myself LOTV have some lovely teddy images so out came my LOTV box.  After sorting through the box I discovered an image that I thought would also be ideal to make a valentines card for my husband so out came the sewing machine and I made my card.

Well, can you imagine my horror when on Valentine's Day my husband opened his card and I realised that I had entered a card into the Ready-Teddy-Go challenge with two adorable little puppies on it - not a teddy in sight.  I really am beginning to worry about myself, my only excuse is I do have a rather nasty cold at the moment.  So if any of the lovely ladies from Ready-Teddy-Go are reading this would you please delete entry number 6, yes that's right the one with the puppies on it.

Well, not to be defeated out came the LOTV box and the sewing machine and here is a card that actually has a teddy on it:

It turned out rather pink, but it will be great for a little girl I know who has birthday coming up soon.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I have decorated the inside of my card to match the front:

Card Recipe:

Image:  LOTV - I Baked a Cake
Papers:  Papermania - Honey & hugs
Card Stock:  Core'dinations
Tools:  Sewing machine, Punch Bunch flower punches
Embellishments:  ribbon, buttons and twine from stash
Sentiment:  Handy Hippo peel-off

Lilac Beauty

This is a card I have made using a gorgeous image from The Crafty Purple Frog called 'Night Rose', I think she is just beautiful.  When I saw her I thought she would be ideal for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge - L is for ... because she has lilac highlights in her hair and eyes.  I teamed the image up with a lilac backing paper from Joanna Sheen's Jane Shasky CD.

I decided to give the card a bit of a distressed feel and used some Core'dinations White Wash card stock to mount the image on and to mat the backing paper.  The same card stock has been used for the corners punched flowers and centre strip.  I lightly inked the edges of the backing paper with dusty concord Distress Ink and used the same ink to colour some cream seam binding that I then scrunched up for the bow.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

This is the inside of my card, it has been decorated to complement the front:

Card Recipe

Image:  The Crafty Purple Frog - Night Rose
Papers:  Joanna Sheen - Jane Shasky CD
Tools:  Spellbinders - Classic Scalloped Rectangles, Punch Bunch flower punches,

Daisy and Friends

I've been playing with my Daisy and Friends CD for this weeks Whoopsi Daisy Challenge and this is my card:

This week the challenge is to follow Sande's fab sketch:

This is a great challenge for me as I love sketches, they are especially handy when your mojo has gone walk about, but they are also great when you have loads of ideas because you can interpret them however you wish as long as the original sketch is still visible.

As usual I have decorated the inside of my card to complement the front:

Card Recipe:

Image:  Daisy and Friends CD - Daisy
Papers:  Pink Petticoat - Wild Blossoms
Tools:  Spellbinders - Labels eighteen, Die-namics - Butterfly die, Cuttlebug - Daisy embossing folder, Martha Stewart - Border punch

Anyone for Golf?

I took one look at the new sketch over at Sketch Saturday and thought GOLF BALLS!  A friend of my son will be sixteen soon and he is a golf fanatic so I have made this card for him.

The papers and toppers are all from my Polka Doodles Not for Girls CD and the base card stock is some brown that I got from Handy Hippo in their sale.  The circles were all cut with a Spellbinders Standard Circle die, I cut the circle mats by hand because I always think the next size die is a bit big for mats.  The number 16 is made from some foam numbers that I have coloured to match with ProMarkers and the buttons and twine are from my stash. The only other equipment that I used was my EK Success Border Punch.

I have kept the inside of my card quite simple

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Phindy's Place Challenge 92 - Round & Round

Just for You

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are all managing to keep warm, it is so cold here in Hampshire.  My husband is going to light the wood burner so I might have to content myself with sitting in the warm and doing some cutting out in front of the TV tonight, I hope there is a decent film on.

This is the Valentines card I have made for my hubby, I followed the fab sketch over at Lili's Little Fairies Challenge and decided on a red and gold theme.

This is a very old Lili of the Valley die cut topper that I've had in my stash for some time, as soon as I came across it I knew it was just right for this card, that's just how I fancy spending the evening on the 14th, snuggled up in front of the fire with a nice glass of wine.

I find it quite difficult to embellish cards for my husband, he is certainly not a red roses man, so I contented my self with lots of hearts and added some crystal Lacquer to the red one and their wine glasses.  I stitched around the outside of the papers, I am going to try and make more use of the sewing machine this year.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I decorated the inside of my card to complement the front, I just think it finishes things of so nicely.

Card Recipe

Image:  LOTV die cut
Papers:  Bearly Mine Designer Extreme CD
Tools:  Spellbinders Standard Circle, Sizzix Framelits Heart Die, Darice Embossing Folder, Sewing Machine
Embellishments: heart gems from stash

Big Hugs!

It's Willow Sketchie time again and this week we have a great sketch from Claire to work with:

I used one of Sharon's special new Valentine digital stamps for my card this week:

The image is called 'All my heart' and I coloured it with ProMarkers, I was going to colour the bear brown but decided to leave her white in the end and just added some shading with grey.  The papers are from the Polly Pickleberry CD and the sentiment stamps are LOTV.  I inked the edges of the image, sentiment, paper and doily with distress ink.  The little pearl heart, doily and pink card stock are all from my stash.

As usual I have decorated the inside of my card to complement the front.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

You and Me

The current challenge over at the CD Sunday Challenge Blog is 'A La Mode', well that was my first challenge to find out what it meant.  I used my good friend 'Google' and came up with a few meanings:
  • in the current style or fashion
  • current trend
  • a style
Well I chose to use 'current trend' as my interpretation of the challenge and the current trend in blog land would appear to be Valentines Cards and Cute and Cuddly at the moment so this is my card for the challenge:

I have made this card for my son to give his girlfriend on Valentine's Day, they are only sixteen but seem to be so in love - those were the days.

The papers and image are from the Crafter's Companion Popcorn Platinum CD and I just couldn't help choosing the decoupage version, how unusual I hear you say!  The pink card stock was some that I bought from Joanna Sheen some time ago, I don't think she stocks it any more which is a shame.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

This is the inside of the card, my son wanted it left blank so that he could write his own words - how romantic.

Card Recipe

Image: Crafter's Companion - Popcorn Platinum

Tools:  Spellbinders - Ribbon Banners, Sizzix - Heart Die, Marianne Creatables - LR0108, Darice - Embossing Folder
Embellishments:  Flowers and gems from stash
Sentiment:  Crafter's Companion - Strawberry Kisses Stamp

I do hope my interpretation of  'A La Mode' of OK for the challenge.

Just a note ....

Time for this weeks Whoopsi Daisy Challenge and the theme this time is 'Cute and cuddly', as you will be able to see I am still in my purple phase:

This cute teddy image is on Sheet 9 along with another cute teddy and two lovely little girls, available HERE.  The papers are Wild Rose Studio as is the sentiment stamp, full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I am making a concerted effort to use my dies more, I have loads of them and some have never been out of the packs, so I will not be buying any more until they have all made an appearance on a card.

Sitting Pretty

I just can't believe how quickly Thursday seems to come around each week, there are two good things about Thursdays, it's time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge and it's nearly the weekend!

This week it's Lisa's turn to host and provide the sketch and here it is:

It's another great sketch with lots of possibilities, just don't forget to make sure that we can still recognise the original sketch.

This is the card that I have made:

The Design Team have all used the new Polly Pickleberry CD and surprise, surprise, I've chosen my favourite decoupage again.  Both the image and the papers are from the CD.  I cut out the image and sentiment using my new Spellbinders Large Labels die, I just love this shape for images, the little butterfly wouldn't quite fit so I cut it out separately and layered it up.  I then mounted everything onto some purple card stock that has been languishing in my stash pile.  The border was cut using a Martha Stewart punch and the leaves are Punch Bunch.  The flowers, ribbon, and lace were all from my stash.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Incy Wincy Challenge 131 - Flower Frenzy
Secret Crafter Challenge 170 - Ribbons
Kaboodle Doodles Challenge 103 - It's All About Girls
CES Challenge 70 - Check it out!
Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge 191 - Use Ribbon
Crazy 4 Challenges 121 - Layer it on
Crafty Sentiments Challenge - Punches and/or Dies
The Crazy Challenge 104 - Flowers

The prize this week is a voucher to spend in the Willow Designs Shop, so pop over to the Willow Sketchie Challenge Blog, have a look at the DT members gorgeous cards and have a go.  You have until 20:00 on Wednesday 8th February to get your entries in.
