Challenge of the Year

This certainly was a challenge, not only did I have to make cards for two young men, the young men in question have severe learning difficulties and no real interests or hobbies. Well where do you start, I thought about the usual male subjects - football, gardening, boats, trains etc., but they did not seem appropriate.  I then remembered my 'The Big One CD' and the 'Wacky Wheelz' section and thought that's it, they are bright, fun images - problem solved.

I made both cards using the same design but chose two different images:

The decoupaged images, paper and sentiments are all from the CD, the gears have been cut using  a Tim Holtz die and the silver panel was embossed with a Creative Expressions Metal Effect Mask, the metal brads were from my stash.

There were two smaller images on the decoupage sheets, so I cut them out and used them to decorate the inside of the cards.:

My  husband and youngest son, who also has learning difficulties, are going to the joint birthday part tonight so I will find out if they liked their cards.

I would like to enter these cards into the following challenges:

Stamp n Doodle - Embossing
CRAFT Challenge 148 - Things with Wheels
CES Challenge 79 - No Girls Allowed!
Pile It On Challenge 13 - For/From a Man
2 Sisters Challenge 85 - Birthday Fun
A Gem of a Challenge 43 - Aquamarine (backing paper)

Thank you for joining me this evening, I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Crazy Daisy

It's Thursday again and that means time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge, this week I've done something a little bit different:

I've used the new Crazy Daisy down loadable paper collection that is now available in the Willow Designs Shop, it consists of four A4 papers and I've used three of them.  We have a fab sketch again this week provided for us by Claire:

and the theme for the week is:

ADD EMBOSSING - DRY OR HEATED

I printed the papers on photo paper and backed everything onto some dark brown card stock that has been in my stash for ages. The centre of my flower is dry embossed and heat embossed, the only problem is you can't really see it in the photograph, so you'll have to take my word for it.

This is the inside of my card, I decorated it with one of the papers plus a die cut square to write on

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge 112 - Circles and Squares
Shopping our Stash Challenge 45 - Circles or Dots (card stock from stash circles and dots on papers)
Lothian Crafts Challenge 24 - Two main colours
For Your Inspiration Challenge 26 - Photo Inspiration (I used the colours and the swirly branches and leaves for my inspiration)

Make sure you pop over to the Willow Sketchie Challenge Blog and have a look at the DT inspiration, you have until 20:00 hrs on Wednesday 4th April to enter and the prize is a voucher to spend in the Willow Designs Store.  Don't forget you can either follow the sketch and/or the theme.

Thank you for visiting today.

With Thanks

This is a card I have made using one of Joanna Sheen's Giordano Decoupage sheets from the Forest Friends Set one.  I love this image, you get two of each sheet and I used the other one to make an Anniversary card for my Mum and Dad.

The card stock was some blue and white that I had in my stash as was the flower and ribbon.  I have decorated the inside of my card to complement the front:

The backing paper is from my new Docrafts Digital Designer CD, this really was a good buy, I always bought the paper packs and now I have them there to print as many times as I want.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The CD Sunday Challenge - Spring has Sprung
Ooh La La Challenge 101 - Thank You
Creative Card Crew Challenge 7 - Spring
Celebrate the Occasion Challenge 56 - Thank You

The little flowers in the pots were attached to pegs but I decided to remove the pegs and use them on their own.

Red and Black

This is my DT card for The Crafty Purple Frog Challenge and the theme this time is everyone's favourite - ANYTHING GOES, I used the gorgeous Red Hearts decoupage:

I absolutely love this image, well I love all of the amazingly tallented Ching-Chou Kuik images available from The Crafty Purple Frog, they are so beautiful.  I layered the decoupaged image onto a scalloped circle die cut that I inked whilst still in the die.

The shaped pearls that I have used on the butterflies were part of a set that I bought from The Works for £1, when I bought the pack I wondered what I would use them for but it was such a bargain I bought it anyway, I'm so glad I did now.  I finished the card and then decided it looked a bit top heavy so I added the row of pearls at the bottom and it looks a lot better.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

This is the inside of my card, you can see the decoupage a bit better in this photograph:

The ribbon was some white seam binding that I coloured with a black ProMarker.

CARD RECIPE

Sunflower

This is the card I have made my Mum for Mother's Day.

The image and the floral backing paper are from Joanna Sheen's Jane Shasky CD, you might have noticed I rather like this CD, the other paper is Asparagus from My Mind's Eye.  I have returned to my favourite decoupage for this card as Mum loves it.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

This is the inside of my card, I printed one of the five inch interactive square inserts from the CD and added a verse from a Crafter's Companion CD, I usually leave my cards blank but felt this verse was just right for my Mum.

Sorry about the poor picture, I had already written the card and sealed it in it's box before I realised how bad it was.

This is the verse:
We're sharing in these wishes
For a specially happy day
That's exactly what you'd ask for
If you could have your way

And we're hoping that the love this brings
Will somehow make it clear
That Mother's Day is not one day
But every day all year

Happy Mother's Day

We're not into really sloppy words in our family and I thought these would be perfect.

Card Recipe:

Image:  Joanna Sheen - Jane Shasky CD
Papers:   My Mind's Eye - Asparagus

Liebster Blog Award

I’m back again, this will be my third post today, that must be a record!   I have just received an unexpected honour, one of my DT friends - Jill from mylittlecardstudio.blogspot.com and another blog friend Clairebears from Clairebears World, have awarded me the Liebster Blog Award,  how exciting is that.

Many thanks Jill and Clairebears, the award is very much appreciated and I will display the badge on my blog with pride.

The idea of the Liebster blog award is to spread the love from one small blog (under 200 followers) to other small blogs to help spread knowledge and readership.  "Liebster" in German means "favourite",  so to carry on the tradition, I am going to pass the award on to 5 people who's blogs have inspired me and who are very supportive to others in the crafting community.

To accept the award this is what you must do:
  • Link back to the person who gave the award to you and thank them for thinking of you
  • Post the award on your blog
  • Give the award to 5 bloggers with less than 200 followers that you appreciate and value
  • Leave a comment on the blogs of your 5 chosen bloggers to let them know·

Here are my five:

I will be so pleased if you all feel that you can accept the award but if you don't wish to then that's fine as well.

Many thanks for stopping by today.

You can choose which one you would like to follow or if you really feel like a challenge you can do both.

Don't forget you can flip, rotate or re-size the elements of the sketch, as long as we can see the basic layout that's fine.  You can also use any image you like but we would love to see something from Willow Designs if you have it.

Both the image and papers that I used are from the Polly Pickleberry CD, the card stock is some that I bought from Create and Craft ages ago.  The border is a Spellbinders Edgeabilities die and the little fence is Marianne CreaTables LR0205, both the ribbon and pearl heart are from my stash.

Pink Enchantment

This is the first of two cards I have today and it is my DT card for The Crafty Purple Frog Challenge.

We would like you to show us your Pink and Girly cards this time, I decided to use a fancy card blank, I have loads of these and for some unknown reason very rarely use them, I inked it with distress inks because it was very white.

The image is Field of Red Poppies Decoupage from The Crafty Purple Frog, the larger of the floral papers is from the Papermania Henbury Lane collection and the smaller more pastel paper is from Joanna Sheen's Jane Shasky From the Heart of the Garden CD, it is worth buying this CD for the papers alone.  The card stock along with the flower, button and dragonfly embellishments are all from my stash.

This is the inside of my card, I have decorated it to match the front:

You can also see the layers of decoupage in this photo.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The CD Sunday Challenge - Imagine
S J Crafts Challenge 2 - Flowers - include Red or Pink
CES Challenge 75 - Flower Frenzy!
The Pink Elephant Challenge 138 - Let's see those layers (at least 3 layers)

Thank you for popping in this morning, please come back later for my second DT card of the day.
