Control Fre@k

It was my youngest son's Birthday yesterday, he was twenty three and this is the card that I created for him.

I used the Echo Park Team Spirit Boy collection, I have the digital collection, I think digital is much better because you can resize everything and they are much easier to store.  Also I don't know about you but I always have favourites that I want to use again and again along with some papers that I never use, with digital collections you can just print the ones you are going to use.

I computer generated the Happy Birthday and used Hunkydory dies to cut the SON.

We all went out for a lovely meal last night, it is the first time I have been inside a restaurant for a very long time, we have eaten in the garden of our favourite pub but not been inside for ages - it was so nice to actually celebrate a Birthday by eating out for a change.

Caring Thoughts

I created this card for my youngest son to give my Mother-in-Law for her Birthday, I used the Sara Davies Caring Thoughts collection.

I decided to create a double z-fold card, I made it a bit differently from what I usually do - I decided to put the verse on the back panel, I usually put them on the back of the card.  I used one of the beautiful papers and one of the pretty decoupage images, there are dies to go with them so that makes things very easy.  I computer generated the sentiment and verse and cut them out with some Hunkydory dies.  The butterflies are from the paper pad, they are die cut but they had a white edge so I decided to fussy cut them as I didn't like it.

Butterfly Kisses

I saw a video by Sam, Mixed Up Craft, she created a Cascading Gatefold Card and I liked it so much that I decided to make one - it is a lot easier than it looks and Sam explains it really well.

I used the Butterfly Kisses collection from Dovecraft, the same collection as Sam but a different paper, I also used some plain purple cardstock that I embossed with an old Crafter's Companion embossing folder.  Both of the toppers are from the Butterfly Kisses collection and they are die cut decoupage, I also made a box envelope to put the card in using some of the papers.  The Mum was cut using some Hunkydory Moonstone Alphabet dies, I added 3D Crystal Lacquer to make them stand out a bit more.

80th Birthday

Just before Christmas my Mother-in-Law asked me to make a Birthday card for a friend of hers who is turning 80 this month.

Her friend likes Flowers and Pink so I decided to use my NitWit Annabelle Collection, it is full of pretty pink flowers.  I printed several copies of the flowers so that I could fussy cut them and layer them up using foam pads, the sentiment is from the DigiStamp Boutique, I changed the colour to match the papers and cut it out with a Hunkydory die.

Forever Young

I decided to get on and use some of my Mintay papers, I have lots and they are all so pretty.  I used the Forever Young collection to create this card.

Everything is from the collection, I used two papers from the 6 x 6 " Paper Pad and fussy cut the other elements from the 12 x 12 " Paper Pad, I even cut the flowers from the papers.  The sentiment is a Craftwork Cards stamp, I stamped it onto one of the papers and cut it out with a Hunkydory Moonstone die.

I used the letterpress technique to create the door and stamped and coloured the lamps and trees. The wreath was created using card stock from the Seasonal Style card collection along with some red Adorable Scorable,

Christmas Sparkle

This is another of the cards that I created for the latest Hunkydory Cardmaking Collection - Issue 9. The collection contains a 68 page magazine, two foiled and die-cut card collections, 3 seasonal dies, an A6 door embossing folder and 14 co-ordinating image and sentiment stamps.  I was asked to create two sets of cards, one using the dies and Little Robin Redbreast card collection and the other using the door embossing folder - I have to admit that I found the embossing folder cards quite a challenge as I don't often use embossing folders.

I used the door embossing folder to create this card along with the wreath die and papers, cardstock and a sentiment from the Seasonal Style card collection

Pub Games

This is another of  the cards that I made for my niece's husband, he is the one that doesn't really have any hobbies so he is quite difficult to make for.

I used my Hunkydory Sporting Favourites Picture Perfect Pad, along with some black cardstock and one of the sentiments from the Moonstone Multi Aperture dies that were launched at the same time as the Picture Perfect Pads.

On Your Special Day

This is another of the cards that I created for the May edition of Making Cards Magazine. To make these cards I used the sweet Spring Bunny Facebook bonus papers. Pop over to the Making Cards Blog, there are some beautiful floral papers to download at the moment.

The purpose of these cards is to show what you can create using just the free papers and a minimum of extras.  I have used two of the patterned papers and one topper and all I have added is some pink cardstock, a stamped sentiment and a scrap of ribbon from my stash.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, the weather was glorious yesterday and it's quite nice again today.
