I made this card for a very good friend of my eldest son, he has just turned seventeen, probably one of the most difficult ages to make a boy's card for. He's not really into sport or anything so no help there then!.
I used a Sizzix die to cut the label and a Britannia Die to cut the sentiment, the large star is an X-cut die and I punched the smaller stars and added some 3D Crystal Lacquer to them.
I have also made a matching tag to go with my card.

I agree with you - this age is the trickiest one for making male cards. Cute images are often too cute, and adult images can be a bit "boring"! Therefor it's easier to put the effort into colors and designs. I think you solved this one nicely:)

This is an awesome card for a seventeen year old boy. It's graphic and bold with cool texture and clean lines. I love the simplicity of the tag.
