Family Christmas 2018

I am going to make a conscious effort to do more scrap booking next year so I thought I would start with some family photographs from Christmas day.

I used some Dovecraft Heritage Christmas papers and some old alphabet stickers from my stash.

The Graduate

My eldest son graduated from Reading University this year - he achieved a first in his Primary Education degree, he also received a first for his dissertation and was marked as outstanding for his school placement, we are very proud of him.

He has almost completed his first term teaching and I have eventually managed to create a layout using a photograph of him just before he handed in his dissertation along with one of the photographs from his graduation ceremony in July.

I decided to print the photographs in black and white, it was so sunny (also very hot) on the day and the photographs are all very bright which made it difficult to find papers to go with them - I'm pleased to say he liked the end result.

Birthday Candle

I have created a little layout of my Mum on her 88th Birthday, my eldest snapped this photo with his phone.

I have used papers and elements from the Sara Davies Birthday Party and Little Angel collections, the numbers on the balloons are a tonic die.

My design is based on one of Jen Fisher's layouts, mine is a lot more simple than hers though!

A wonderful holiday

Matt and Hannah went on holiday to Cyprus recently and Matt asked me to make a layout using a couple of their favourite photographs.

I used papers from the Sara Davies Shabby Chic Signature collection and created some die cut flowers using some Tattered Lace Dies - the leaves are a Sue Wilson die.  I die cut the Cyprus letters with a Memory Box die, I cut them twice - once from pink and once from green so that I could inlay them.  I also inked the edges of everything with Distress Ink.

Music Star

This is an 8 x 8 scrapbook page that I created for Simply Cards & Papercraft. I was commissioned to create five masculine projects using the sunburst technique.

I used Dovecraft Back to Basics Blue Skies papers, X-Cut Star Dies and Memory Box Alphabet Tile Letters Dies - the photographs are my youngest son when he was quite a lot younger.

Young Love

This is a scrapbook page that I have created, I loosely followed Jen Fisher's 12 Months of Scrapbooking - January sketch - check out her YouTube video HERE.

The photograph is of my gorgeous eldest son and his beautiful girlfriend just before they went to their university Summer Ball last year - it has taken me a while to get around to making this!

I have used beautiful papers from the Polkadoodles Belle Papillon Vintage CD Rom.  I inked the edges of everything - the letters and butterflies are also from the CD.

Passed!

I have made another attempt at a scrapbook layout, this time to record my eldest son's fabulous achievement of passing his driving test first time.

We're so proud of him, he wasn't learning for long and he drives as though he has been at it for years - he even drove to Gatwick Airport on Tuesday.

The papers are all from my stash, the stars are X-cut die cuts and the ric rac border is a Spellbinders die.

I would like to enter this layout into the following challenges:

Use Your Stuff Creative Challenge 97 - Four Patterns
Crafting by Designs - Anything Goes
Crafty Ribbons Challenge 57 - Use 3 of something (3 stars)
Delightful Challenges  - Anything but a Card

Thank you so much for visiting me, leave me a comment and I will try to pop over and visit you.

Music Star

It was National Scrapbooking Day in the US yesterday so I decided to do something I have been wanting to do for ages - I made a Scrapbook Layout.

My layout is about my youngest son, Laurence, he certainly is a 'Music Star' - he plays, sings and records music, he has two recordings on YouTube.

He knows everything about Pop Music - you can ask him who recorded a song, the date it was released, what position it got to in the charts, anything you want to know and he will tell you and he can go back to the 1970's.

I have used traditional methods to create my layout, I love CD crafting and digital images and papers but I still like to print them out and adhere them, I find this the most enjoyable part of crafting. Even though postage costs are becoming ridiculous I still like to feel the weight and dimension of a traditionally made project.

I really enjoyed making this layout and I think it might be the first of many.

I would like to enter my layout into the following challenges:

Red Carpet Studio Challenge 35 - Use black as a prominent colour
Joanna Sheen Challenge - Music & Lyrics
Divas by Design - Add a Number
The Paper Shelter - Music Maestro
4 Crafty Chicks Challenge 140 - Stars
Moving Along with the Times Challenge - One for the Guys
Allsorts Challenge Week 205 - Add some Sparkle (glitter stars)
As You Like It Challenge 1 - Favourite Die and/or Punch (X-cut Star die - so useful for boys/children's cards but can also be used for females)

Thank you for calling today, I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend, the weather has been beautiful here today - long may it last!
