Game On

This is my card for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge, the theme this week is Game On - I've gone for the obvious and chosen Tennis but you must go and check out the DT cards, there are some really original ideas.

The Tennis image is from my Polka Doodles Not For Girls CD, the base card stock is Core'dinations and I have kept things very CAS as this card is for a boy and I don't think they like things to be that fussy.

I found a picture of a Tennis Ball using google and then added the words Happy Birthday to it.  I used the same picture of a Tennis Ball, only slightly larger, on the inside of my card to write the message on, both have been cut out using a Spellbinders Standard Circle Die.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The CD Sunday Challenge - Game On
Charisma Cardz Challenge 34 - No Embellishments
Challenges for Everybody Challenge 1 - Anything Goes
The Squirrel and the Fox Challenge 25 - One for the Men
Incy Wincy Designs - Frogs n Snails and Puppy dog tails
The Crazy Challenge 127 - Anything Goes
Creative Mondays Challenge 14 - Kids
Paper Pretties Wednesday Challenge 221 - White, Back + one other colour
Card Crafter's Circle Challenge 38 - For the Fellas!
Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge 87 - Less is More

Thank you so much for calling today, I always love to read any comments that you may leave.

I still have checks left!

I saw this image over at Bugaboo stamps and it reminded me so much of a good friend - this is just the type of thing she would say, so I had to get it and use it for her Birthday card.

I coloured the image with ProMarkers and the papers are Pink Petticoat - Hydrangeas, I love the Pink Petticoat paper collections because there is always a plain paper to match the patterned ones.  The scalloped border was cut with an X-Cut border punch and I have added a row of little pearls along the edge.  The pearls, flowers, ribbon, feather and heart pin are all from my stash.

I have decorated the inside of my card to complement the front:

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Craft Room Challenge - Pins and/or Charms
Creative Craft Challenge - Monochromatic Birthday
House of Gilli Challenge 40 - Your Favourite Colour Combination - Purple and anything!
Really Reasonable Ribbon's Challenge 54 - Purple Pizazz and Ribbon
I Love ProMarkers Challenge 132 - Anything Goes
One Stitch at a Time Challenge 128 - Use a Digi
Pile It On Challenge 35 - I Spy Something with P.... Purple, Pearls
Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge 147 - Ribbons and Bows
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge 178 - Roses and Ribbons!

I would like to say a very warm welcome to my new followers, it is so nice of you to join me.  Well I have a load of DT posts to write now, I like to get them all written and scheduled in advance so that I don't have to worry if anything happens, so I'd better get on with it.

I hope to see you again soon.

Cute Christmas

Talk about cutting it fine, this is my card for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge, the deadline is 1pm so I have just about made it.

My eldest son, Matt, has just left for the Lake District to do his final expedition for his Silver D of E Award, they are camping for the week and spend three days hiking from one camp site to the next carrying everything they need including tents, cooking equipment etc., rather him than me!

Anyway back to my card, the theme this week is Cute Christmas so I decided to use my Crafter's Companion Humphrey's Corner Christmas Collection CD and chose one of the decoupage images - that's a surprise!

The image and the papers are from the CD, the base card stock is some matt gold mirror card from my stash, the sentiment is also from my stash.  I layered the sentiment on the mirror card and cut the scalloped circle and corners from it as well.

This is the inside of my card, you can also just about see the layers of decoupage:

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The CD Sunday Challenge - Cute Christmas
Stamp N Doodle - Loaded with Layers (decoupaged image)
Forever Friends Fortnightly Challenge 43 - Anything Goes
A Gem of a Challenge 53 - Animals or Teddies

Great Impressions - A walk on the wild side (include an animal)

Thank you for visiting me today, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Welcome

Good afternoon, it's a funny old day here - one minute we have bright sunshine and the next big black clouds - but as of yet no rain.

Matt, my eldest son has just gone to enroll at college, he received his GCSE results this morning and he did well - A's in Maths, English, Music and Humanities and all the rest were B's - a total of twelve.  He was really nervous when he went to get them, I feel so sorry for them all, there is so much hype and pressure and at the end of the day not everyone is academic - we've always made it clear that as long as he does the best he can it doesn't matter what the outcome is.

Anyway, this is another card I have made using one of the fab new releases over at The Crafty Pad Designs, I just love these Acorns & Autumn Leaves images:

I got the idea from a magazine, but they had used die cut leaves, I printed multiple copies of the images and coloured them all in different colours with my ProMarkers and then cut them out.  It was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be to arrange the leaves in a circle and I'm still not 100% happy with it!

The papers are from the docrafts Wellington range and the card stock is Kraft.  I coloured some card stock with my Burnt Orange ProMarker and printed a computer generated sentiment onto it before cutting it out with one of my Spellbinders Ribbon Banners dies.  My bow is some seam binding coloured with the same ProMarker and the same seam binding has been threaded through a couple of buttons at the bottom.

I used the left over pieces of paper to decorate the inside of my card, you just can't see the darker one because it is next to the fold and I wanted to show the dimension of the leaves and the sentiment:

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Fab 'n' Funky Challenge 135 - Use Leaves Somewhere ...
Crafts and Me Challenge 98 - Autumn Colours
Card Crafter's Circle Challenge 36 - Rich and Earthy Colours
2 Sisters Challenge 105 - In The Garden
The Crazy Challenge 177 - Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting me today, I do love it when you do.

You brighten my life

Good afternoon, it's time for a new challenge at Crafting for all Seasons and our theme this fortnight is 'STITCHING REAL OR FAUX'.

This week we have three fab sponsors:

and

I spent ages browsing their shops, but there were so many gorgeous images I just couldn't make up my mind which one to choose, so I decided to use one of my own.

This is my card:

I have kept it really simple again, I'm really getting into this style of card at the moment.  I used one of my Joanna Sheens's Wordy Stamps and added my hand stitching to the sun's rays.  For the top half of the background I embossed some lines onto a piece of linen card that I had in my stash and the bottom is some Papermania paper.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

This is the inside of my card that has been decorated to complement the front:

CARD RECIPE:

This is a close up of my card:

I have used the same papers to decorate the inside of my card and printed part of the flower on the greeting oval:

Sleepy Mouse

My posts are getting later and later at the moment, I think I must be coming down with something - yesterday I decided to tidy my craft room and today I thought I would change my blog template.  I decided to switch from a 2 column design to a 3 column design - BIG MISTAKE - it took me absolutely ages to sort everything out.

I have made this card following the great sketch over at The Sweet Stop:

I love House Mouse and I don't make nearly enough cards with them, something I intend to remedy.  I think this image is called 'Poppy bedtime'.  I cut it out with a circle die and added a couple of layers of decoupage.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below.

You must pop over to The Crafty Pad Designs Shop, Debbie has been very busy and there are lots of new goodies there - new images (including some gorgeous Christmas ones), papers and sentiments.  This is a card I have made using some of the new images:

Pink Magnolia

I have made this card for this weeks CD Sunday Challenge - Exotic Birds and Blooms - you can use either if you don't have both.  Most of the DT have used Joanna Sheen's Eastern Treasures CD - I think this must be the only Joanna Sheen CD I don't have, so I have used my Ooh La La - Carnival of Colour CD and this is my card:

The Oval Pyramid image and the papers are both from the CD and I have used some gold card stock from Create and Craft.  I cut the border from the card stock and one of the papers with my Spellbinders Classic Triple Scallop Edgeabilities die.  I wanted to create an elegant look and so the only embellishments added are some gold Pearls - on reflection I think perhaps I should have mounted the image a little higher and added a ribbon along the bottom.

This is the inside of my card that I have decorated to complement the front, you can also see the pyramid layers in this photograph:

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

The CD Sunday Challenge - Exotic Birds and Blooms

This is a card I made for one of my Son's to give his Grandad recently.  I have used a fab seaside image from one of my Ooh La La CD's because Dad was born on the Isle of Wight and loves the Sea.

I got the idea for the porthole from Debby's blog - A Scrapjourney - you must have a look at her blog she makes the most wonderful cards, the brads are arranged a little differently on mine.   I have glossed the porthole, anchor and wave embellishment with 3D Crystal Lacquer.  Full details of everything I have used are listed below:

This is the inside of my card, I have used the same papers and design but left out the brads:

A Little Reminder ...

Where is everyone, I can't believe how quiet it is out there, I can only assume you are all away on your holidays!

Come on it's my last challenge over at Willow Sketchie this week and at the time of posting this card there are only twelve entries.  It's been a year since I joined their Design time and I've decided it's time to step down and give someone else a chance to work with Sharon's gorgeous Willow Designs images.

This is another card I have made following this weeks WARM COLOURS theme, I even did a little bit of paper piecing on the shoes:

This is my final sketch:

and the theme I have chosen for this week is:

WARM COLOURS - RedOrangeYellow etc.

Don't forget you don't have to follow the sketch, the theme on it's own is just fine but if you really feel like a challenge you can do both.

This is the inside of my card, I have decorated it using the same papers and layout as the front:

Vintage Thank You

I'm a bit late posting today, we have been out in the garden doing battle with some monster weeds, all of this rain has made them grow so much - it's a shame that the vegetables are not doing as well!

I have made this card for my eldest son to give to my parent's.  Matt starts college in September and the college he has chosen is twenty miles away, Mum and Dad have very kindly bought him a bus pass that he can use for college along with any other journeys he needs to make.

I wanted an image of a bus, but unfortunately couldn't find any modern ones so I have used this vintage image from Joanna Sheen's Fay Whittaker Collection.  Hopefully the bus that Matt travels on will be a little more modern.

I have used some free papers from Crafter's Companion and followed the sketch from Sketches by Carly, full details of everything I have used are listed below.

I have decorated the inside of my card using the same layout as the front but I have used a spellbinders die to cut a large square for Matt to write his thank you message on.

Card Recipe

Image:  Joanna Sheen - Fay Whittaker Collection
Papers:  Crafter's Companion - free download (no longer available)
Card Stock:  Crafter's Companion - Core'dinations
Tools:  Spellbinders - Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Classic Squares
Embellishments:  ribbon from stash
Sentiment:  Wild Rose Studio

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Butterflies and Roses

I have decided that I really must try to use some of my many embossing folders, they just sit in boxes and hardly ever see the light of day.  I have also decided to use something that has been hanging around for a long time at least once a week - I wonder how long that will last!

This card ticks both boxes, the background has been created using one of my many unused embossing folders, this one is Spellbinders M-Bossabilities Elegance, and also some Hot Off The Press decoupage that I think came as part of one of their gorgeous paper packs.  I haven't decided what type of card it will be yet, so I will add a sentiment at a later date.

I have decorated the inside of my card using another item that had never been out of the packet before - a Spellbinders Labels Twenty die, I wanted the three layers to be quite close together, so I drew around the outside for the largest layer, die cut with it for the centre layer and drew around the inside for the smallest layer.  The papers are from the Hot Off The Press Roses in Harmony Paper Pack.

This final photograph shows the decoupage or '3-D Papier Tole' as Hot Off The Press call it.  I apologise for the glare, my photography skills really do need to be improved.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Nutcrafters Challenge 24 - Embossed backgrounds
Squiggle Stamps Challenge - Stash Attack!
Divas by Design Challenge 47 - For a Female
My Time made Easy Pretty Palette 68 - Colour Palette

Thank you for looking in today, it is really hot here - it seems we can never have a happy medium, it's either cold and wet or hot and humid - but I'm not going to complain, my eldest son has gone camping for the weekend and the youngest is on a trip to Monkey World - so dry is good.

Alfie With Thanks

Good morning, it's time for another Willow Sketchie Challenge today and it's my turn to host again this week.  Sadly this is going to be the last challenge I will be hosting as I have made the difficult decision to step down from the design team.  It has been over a year now and it is time for me to let someone else have the pleasure of working with the gorgeous Walter and Winnie and Polly Pickleberry images.

This is the card I have made using the fab Alfie and the postbox digital collection:

This is my final sketch:

Quite a simple one again with plenty of scope for you to embellish as you wish.  The theme I have chose for this week is:

WARM COLOURS - RedOrangeYellow etc.

If you really feel like a challenge you can do the Sketch and the Theme but it is not necessary to do both.

You can use anything from your crafty stash but of course we'd love to see something from Willow Designs if you have it. If you use the sketch it's OK to rotate it or re-size the elements and you can add embellishments as you please, just as long as the original sketch layout can be recognised.

This is the inside of my card, I have decorated it using the same papers and layout as the front:
