Birthday Roses

Those of you that visit my blog regularly might remember a card that I created for the Less is More Challenge using this Altenew stamp & die collection, I had a few roses left over from that card so I decided to make another and use them up.

I die cut and outline stamped my roses before colouring them with ProMarkers, I then used two different shades of ink to stamp the details on top of the coloured die cuts. I used my Misti to do this - it makes it so much easier. I then repeated the process with the leaves.

The sentiment is from another Altenew set and the enamel dots are from my stash.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

CAS on Friday Challenge 111 - Flowers
Seize The Birthday Challenge - Birthday + Optional Topping of Anything Goes

Matthew

This is the second half of the gift that I made for my eldest son and his girlfriend as a housewarming present - you can find the other half HERE.

I used an Anna Marie Designs MDF Plaque and Letter along with papers from the Sara Davies Shabby Chic Signature Collection. I sanded the edges of everything and added distress ink.

The rosettes and large stars are Tim Holtz dies and the small stars are an X-Cut punch.

I'm pleased to say that they liked them, they are currently sitting on the mantle piece in their new home.

Thank you for popping in today.

In Sympathy

I am sharing one of those cards that none of us like to make today.

I have used a kit from CraftsUprint, it is a decoupage kit so lots of my favourite fussy cutting - I have layered everything up with foam pads for dimension.

THANK YOU so much

This is my card for this weeks Less is More Challenge, this time we have been given a sketch to follow.

I have used an Altenew stamp & die collection that was free with Issue 157 of Simply Cards & Papercraft - they are actually Christmas Roses but I think you can use them for any time of the year.

I die cut and outline stamped my roses before colouring them with ProMarkers, I then used two different shades of ink to stamp the details on top of the coloured die cuts.  I'm so pleased that I have a Misti - it makes this job so much easier.  I then repeated the process with the leaves.

I printed a sentiment from Pink Petticoat and adhered everything with 3D glue gel for dimension.

I would like to enter this card into the Less is More Challenge Week 334 - Sketch 20

Christmas Cheer

It's time for a new challenge at Christmas with the Cuties and the theme this month is Clean and Simple.

I have used the cute Snowman at the Window digital stamp from our sponsor Crafty Sentiments to create my card.

I have kept things really simple - I used a Sue Wilson pierced square die to cut him out.

I used some twine from my stash to attach a LOTV sentiment tag.

Make sure you pop over to the Christmas with the Cuties challenge blog and take a look at the Design Team inspiration, we would love for you to join us for our Clean and Simple challenge.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Seaside Memories

I have created this card for the CD Sunday Challenge - the theme is Sun or Sand or Sea, I think I've just about managed to cover all three!

I have used a topper and sentiment from the Debbi Moore Designs Inspiration Magazine, the papers are from the Shabby Chic Seaside CD.

I fussy cut the starfish and layered everything up with foam pads. The sentiment has been attached using some string from my stash.

Puppy Love and a DT Call

I have created this card using the adorable Puppy Love - Flipper Pyramage Card Kit from Paper Creator's Crafts.

Instead of creating a Flipper card I decided to print the main topper several times so that I could cut some decoupage layers instead.  I stamped a Crafter's Companion sentiment  on the tag and popped everything onto a scalloped edge card blank.

There is even an envelope included in the kit.

Have you noticed that we are currently having  DT call over at Paper Creator, the DT have full access to the store where you can download whatever you want so pop over and take a look HERE - there are still a few days left to enter.

Thank you for popping in today.

Coolest Dad

This is the third Father's Day card that I made this year.

This one is another download from CraftsUprint, I really like the papers - I changed it a bit by adding a blue base layer.

I also added a couple more layers to the centre star and added dimension using foam pads.

Hannah

Good morning, I am sharing a plaque that I made for my eldest son and his girlfriend, Hannah, as a housewarming gift - actually it's only half of the gift, I will share the other half another day.

I used an Anna Marie Designs MDF Plaque and Letter along with papers from the Sara Davies Shabby Chic Signature Collection.  I sanded the edges of everything and added distress ink.

The butterflies and flourish are dies from the Shabby Chick Collection and the flowers are Tattered Lace Die.

To complete my card I just added a little twine bow.

Dad

This is another of the cards that I made so that my Son would be able to choose which one he wanted to give his Dad - this is the one that he chose.

I used a piece of cardboard packaging, I just stripped back some of the outer coating.  The papers are from my stash with a torn edge, I also added distress ink to the edges of everything.

I saw this design on Pinterest, I'm sorry I can't find it again to link to it - I had the JustRite Stacking Sentiment stamps so I decided to CASE it.

I coloured the string to match and decorated the inside.

Thank you for popping in today.

Riverboat Raiders

It's time for a new challenge at Ooh La La Creations and the theme for the next fortnight is Summertime chosen by Jennifer.  I have two cards to share today, they both use the same collection from the Ooh La La Creations Boys to Men CD, I will be back next Monday with two more cards created using this collection - I am trying to show how flexible they are.

The fun image and papers are from the Riverboat Raiders collection on the CD.

This first card has lots of layers and dimension - my favourite type of card to create.

The second one is a simple design all created in Word, I have just added some ribbon from my stash.

Make sure you pop over to the Ooh La La Creations Challenge Blog and check out the DT inspiration, we would love for you to join us for our Summertime Challenge.

A New Home

This is the card that I created for my eldest son and his girlfriend, we helped them move into their new apartment yesterday - it's on the 4th floor and it was the hottest day of the year so far, I will be having a quiet day today!

The image is from a LOTV Art Pad and the papers are NitWit Collections.

I used a sentiment from Pink Petticoat and decorated the inside of my card using the same papers and design as the front.

Happy Father's Day

As usual I made a few of Father's Day Cards so that my Son would be able to choose which one he wanted to give his Dad - this was one of the rejects!

I used a topper from craftsUprint, it is designed as a Spiral Pyramid but I copied the main image and printed it several times so that I could create some decoupage layers.

The base layer is some burgundy card stock embossed with my Crafter's Companion Angelica & Adam Starry Eyed embossing folder.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Brown Sugar Challenge 255 - Anything Goes
Creative Knockouts Challenge 198 - Anything Goes

Frequently asked questions ...

I am going to answer another of the Frequently asked questions that I have received from friends and followers on my blog.

Today I am going to answer:

"Do you use a light box to take your photos?"

In short, the answer is no, I don't use a light box to take my photographs.  I am very fortunate that I have a room with lots of natural light including a skylight that I take my photographs directly below.

I am by no means an expert photographer but I do have a very good Canon Camera and a 50 mm 1.8 STM Lens that is particularly good for taking close up photographs.  I also use PicMonkey Photo Editor, the basic editing program is free but you can upgrade at a small cost to obtain additional features.

Having said all of that, I think the most important thing to remember when taking photographs of cards is to make sure your camera is on the same level as the item you are photographing.  I place a large box on my table and place a 12 x 12" sheet of white card stock on top, I then prop up another sheet at the back.

When I sit at a chair I can line my camera up with my card ensuring that I am at the same level, this makes it much easier to take a straight photograph and make sure your card looks square.  If you take your photograph from above or at an angle your card will distort and look askew.

I have two previous posts in this series where I answer

"What paper do you use for printing?"

and

"What printer do you use?"

You can find them both HERE, if you are interested and would like to take a look.

I hope you find this information useful and that I have managed to answer some of the questions that I have received. I would just like to say that I am NOT recommending these products, I am only letting you know what I use.

I have used my Crafter's Companion Die-sire Kinetic Circle Swing card and an adorable image from Joanna Sheen's House-Mouse Triple CD.

These dies are so easy to use, you even get decorative dies to decorate your card blanks.

The sentiment is a JustRite stamp, I cut it out with a tag die that was a freebie with a magazine.
