A dog named ROY!
A dog named ROY is a bit of a joke in our family - the boy's in the house would all like to get a dog and my husband has told them that if we do he will call it Roy! Don't ask me why because I don't have a clue, but I'm sure you can imagine what the boy's think of it. I have put my foot down and said no dogs whilst we still have a free range chicken in the garden, so we will have to wait and see if we do eventually get a dog named ROY!
I have used this cute image from the DigiStamp Boutique and papers from Echo Park. I punched the border with a Fiskars edge punch and added some twine and a button. The sentiment was computer generated and I added a little 3D Crystal Lacquer to his nose and the balloon.
This is the inside of my card decorated to match the front.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
The Emerald Faeries Challenge 45 - Happy Birthday

Roy is a name my friend would have chosen for her dog as it was supposed to make him sound tough....mmmm...not sure about that.
ReplyDeleteI love my dog and sure would be lost with out her, but she is a quiet and gently labrador...who sits on us if she could just to be close...

A very beautiful card Pauline. I love the layout. I hope your boys will get their dog. We have two Jack Russels (my husband call them our two spoiled brads), they give us so much love and joy. Just do not know if it will work with the chickens. I know our two won't accept them.
ReplyDeleteWith your family joke in mind this is a great choice of image for your son's birthday card! I think the papers and colors really work well for a male design, as well as the image and design with the button and twine as only embellishments. Cute!
ReplyDeleteI am smiling from ear to ear at your Roy story! Actually I like that name for a dog, nice and short! So like the little dog on your card, what a sweet face. Fabulous card all round as always. I forgot to mention a few days ago that I am pleased you have got your Dad settled which must be a huge relief for you and your Mom. Michelle x

LOL - Oh your family sound wonderful Pauline… sounds a bit like our house… although we don't have a chicken!!! but last night we were talking about getting a pet Llamma!!! but decided probably not a good idea!! hee hee….
ReplyDeleteAww… Roy is mega cute!! you've coloured the image beautifully and I love those scrummy papers… the border with twine detail is perfect and you've decorated inside so beautifully too!
I'm looking forward to the Murray match later! :-)
Hope you have a lovely weekend!
Big hugs

Aw, Roy is adorable, Pauline, especially in your garden. And who is to say that Roy would chase a free range chickie? Our German Shepherd walked around with a duck on his back. While the duck was small, the duck's down was always sticky from being carried around in the dog's mouth hahaha. Anyway, your card is so pretty. To add insult to the name your husband has selected, ask him if he is naming the dog after the Wal-Mart brand of dog food, which is "Old Roy" LOL It will likely conjure up more jokes about finding the dog in the WM parking lot and bringing him home. What if is is a girl dog? Roy-lene? Sorry - LOL hope your week-end is an enjoyable one! hugs, de

ReplyDeleteBrilliant card, love the humour and thanks for the story behind it! We have a lot of chickens in the garden. The cat used to chase them but he's given that up since we got roosters lol! You're right though, they don't always agree with dogs. Maddy x
ReplyDeleteNot only do I love the story behind this card, your creation is so sweet, too! Fun! Hugs, Ira x
