Saturday Afternoon Cake

On most Saturdays my Mother-in-Law comes to spend the day with us, she lives quite close to us and often joins us for family holidays as well.

I started to bake cake for us to have with a cup of tea in the afternoon and it has become part of our Saturday afternoon routine, I usually bake a Victoria Sponge or a Crunchy Top Lemon Cake, a Mary Berry recipe - sometimes hubby bakes scones or we have something different but most often it is one of these so I thought I would share some photographs today.

I have to leave the Victoria Sponge plain except for some strawberry jam in the centre, hubby is not keen on cream or icing sugar on the top!

It looks like it is going to be a nice day today, I will pop to town this morning and then spend the afternoon in my craft room finishing some DT projects.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, your company is much appreciated.

  5. MMMMMmmmmmmm .... .... just fancy a piece of cake now Pauline!!!

I think I would cut a big piece out for hubby first. Put just jam in his and then add the icing and cream on what was left. At least I would know the rest was for me and visitors LOL!!

Sounds like a lovely Saturday afternoon ritual.

Hope all is well with you and you got your DT work finished.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

    Love Jules xx

  14. Oh Yum. If you like simple try an angel food cake mix with a can of undrained crushed pineapple. Mix pineapple in cake mix, let it foam, pour in 9 x 13 pan and bake per cake directions. It's good with nothing else added. Let me know if you try it.
