What A Hoot

This is a bit of a sad post for me - I have decided to step down from the Crafter's Companion Design Team.  I have loved working with all of their fabulous products over the past couple of years but as the main focus is now on Dies and I am not a natural die cutter - I really prefer working with papers and digital images along with fussy cutting and decoupage, I felt that the time had come to call it a day!

This card is from my final allocation and uses one of the fablous Die’sire Fancy Card Blanks, this one is the Easel Card - Black.

The main die is the Die’sire Create-a-Card What a Hoot die and the sentiment is the Die’sire Create-a-Card Thank You die.  I have used papers from the Sara Davies Autumn Morning Signature Collection 6 x 6 Paper Pad behind the dies and just added a couple of gems.

Make sure you tune in to Hochanda tomorrow, there will be lots of fabulous inspiration and demonstrations.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge - Pumpkins or Color Orange
Inspiration Destination Challenge 109 - Always Anything Goes
The Crafty Addicts Challenge 27 - Anything goes/Halloween colours
Creative Moments Challenge 105 - Always Anything Goes/Optional Twist

Thank you for visiting my blog today, your company is much appreciated.

  1. What a tough decision to make but I can see what you mean - this card is gorgeous but the die cuts do all the work, the only way you can inject some of your own personality into it is in your choice of materials and style of card. I much prefer to work with dies that allow scope for creativity, such as those that make embellishments. I hope this doesn't mean that CC will be neglecting their super ranges of CDs and stamps

  5. Love the card Pauline it's a wonderful die, understand how you feel though, I think dies are great to use with images and papers but not as the main element, congratulations on your Dt post with Paper Shelter CC's loss is their gain.

  14. I agree with Jane, it's a tough decision, but when the product isn't a good fit for your comfort zone, it's better to move on. Like you, I prefer digital or rubber stamping to using specialty dies. While I occasionally use dies, I tend to use my Silhouette Cameo the majority of the time as the Studio DE software allows me to create exactly the shapes I want for my cards.

  23. A beautiful card Pauline but understand what you mean I use dies as an embellishment but would struggle to use as the main focus-and you do CD and decoupage work so well

  31. Hi Pauline

That must have been a hard decision .. .. but you have to do what feels right for you. If you aren't comfortable then the making is no longer a pleasure and that can never be right. Crafting has to be fun!!

Having said that you have used this die set beautifully. Love the added gems to the owls eyes! A great finishing touch.

Hope you have a good weekend when it arrives.

    Love Jules xx

  38. Even though die cutting isn't your cup of tea you've showcased a lot of fantastic cards using dies, this one is no exception. But time is limited and one should use the free time for what one enjoys best, so I'm sure it's the right decision for you.
