Anniversary Wishes

It is my Mum and Dad's 65th Wedding Anniversary this week, unfortunately Dad is in a nursing home suffering from dementia so we will not be having the usual family celebrations this year.

Dad went from being perfectly normal this time last year to being unable to remember what happened five minutes ago now - I find that quite frightening and very, very sad.

Mum and I will go and visit him on the day and take cards with us, but his moods are quite unpredictable now so I don't know how we will find him.

Anyway enough of my miserable rambling, this is the card that I have made for them - the colours are much more vibrant in real life, I'm struggling for light at the moment.

I used one of Joanna Sheen's TC Chiu Decoupage Sheets and Pink Petticoat papers, the sentiment was computer generated.

I have decorated the inside of the card and you can see the decoupage layers in this photograph.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Joanna Sheen Challenge - Celebrate!
The Squirrel and The Fox Challenge 57 - Use Violet
Fab 'n' Funky Challenge - Anything Goes
Penny's Paper-Crafty Challenge 154 - Anything Goes
The Ribbon Carousel Challenge 87 - Holidays and Celebrations
4 Crafty Chicks Challenge - Anything Goes
Aud Sentiments Challenge 94 - Any Sentiment
4 Crafty Girls Challenge 6 - Anything Goes

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a comment, your company is much appreciated..

  6. It must be difficult to see your dad changes, also difficult for your mother and ofcourse that they are not together anymore. The card you've made for them is gorgeous, I am sure your mother is loving this and if your dad is in a good "mood" he will love this to.

  8. Oh Wow! your card is SO beautiful Pauline… I love the image and the decoupage really gives it a lovely 3D effect. I zoomed in and the fruit looks good enough to pick up and eat! :-))
I'm so sorry about your dad… my dad got sudden onset dementia near the end… it just came on out of the blue after an operation… I found that was the hardest thing to deal with... more so than the physical illness that he had… my heart goes out to you and sending you huge hugs!!
    Take Care
    Love Sue xx

  17. It's a beautiful card Pauline to commemorate a very special anniversary that not very many people will see. It is so seldom that people reach such a significant milestone in anniversaries you must all be so proud. My father's memory was taken from him at quite an early age due to a cerebral aneurysm but, like your father, he was still precious to me but in a different way, we can't always choose the paths life gives us but I guess we make the most of them. Enjoy your day with y our wonderful parents hugs Susanx
